Cookies are small pieces of information sent by a web server to a web browser, which enable the server to collect information from the browser. Like all websites, Woodcraft Folk uses cookies to provide you with a personalised web service. This includes monitoring our website’s performance, profiling your use on our website and finding people with similar profiles, so we can provide personalised content on social media sites you visit.

You can find more information about cookies and how to control them on the websites of the Interactive Advertising Bureau or Information Commissioner’s Office.

Your consent

Cookies may be set by us or by third parties. By continuing to browse our site you’re agreeing to our use of cookies.

Refusing consent

You can avoid the use of cookies using your browser’s cookie settings (how to do this depends on the browser you’re using, for example Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer). If you avoid the use of cookies, you may not be able to use the full functionality of our website, like making donations or taking actions.

Why do we use cookies?

Cookies are important to make our website work and help us improve it, as well as improve our advertising and fundraising, which helps us realise our vision of a better future for people and planet.

What kind of cookies do we use?

1. Essential

These cookies are needed for you to move around this website and use its features. Without them, services such as donation forms can’t work.

Other Woodcraft Folk websites use additional cookies. For example, the Woodcraft Folk online shop uses a cookie during checkout.

2. Performance

These cookies tell us about how visitors use our website, for instance which pages are visited most often, and whether visitors get error messages. They don’t collect information that identifies visitors – all information is aggregated and anonymous. And they’re only used to improve how a website works.

3. Functionality

These cookies provide more personal features, like recording previous choices you’ve made. These include recording your previous visits the website, so that you don’t see messages for new visitors.

The information these cookies collect is anonymised and doesn’t track your browsing activity on other websites.

4. Advertising

We advertise our website and campaigns, including how to donate, with partners such as Twitter, Facebook, Google and others. Cookies from these partners allow us to target our advertising to you or to people like you, or to exclude you from our advertising.

For example, if you recently completed a donation on our site, a cookie set by a partner organisation could be used to exclude you from receiving our donation ads on their websites or apps.

Alternatively, a third-party advertising cookie may be used by our partners to create audiences on our behalf, so we can target our advertising spend more efficiently.

To better understand the impact of our communications and campaigns, as well as the accuracy of our supporter data, we also use click-through email tracking. This allows us to see when an email has been delivered and opened, including when links in it are clicked.

Third party cookies

We embed content on our website from other sites, which can result in cookies being used by third parties, for example Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and others. You should check the relevant third-party website for more information about their cookies.
